It can be addicting, going for the next course and working your way up the freediving educational ladder but in freediving, we need time to develop the mental and physical skills we need. Over the years I have found that the people who develop into far better freedivers are the ones who invest in their skill set rather than rushing onto the next course. Personal coaching is the way to do this. With my knowledge accumulated over 17 years of teaching and competing I can develop you into a better freediver.

It is important to arrive for your in-water training period well prepared. Distance coaching is the way to do this. Equalisation is something I specialise in, and together we can prepare you well ahead of time. If you are preparing for a competition then I can work with you remotely on your training plans and strategy.
I have been competing for many years and have good systems for managing competition stress. I only take on a small number of athletes a year for distance coaching as this means I can keep the quality and attention high.
Flavors served as in-water and distance coaching
There is no secret to how people learn, we need gentle, regular input, something challenging but not too challenging, drills repeated until they are second nature. Once learnt we then introduce ‘stress’, this is not a bad word. We need a task to be moderately challenging in order to achieve ‘flow’ in our dives. Theory, practice, repetition.
In applying these principles I will give you structure and a sense of progress, you will never again enter the water without a clear goal for the session.
What your typical training week will look like:
First step is to establish some goals, some long term and some short term. Then we look at the areas you need to work on the get there. You need to break the dive down into component parts, train them individually then once engrained in your subconscious we put it all together for amazing dives.

You have a limited time in the water, so of course you want to make the most of it. The best way to do this is with distance coaching. The best training is training what you are going to do. You can have the most comprehensive gym program but if you live 2 hours from your gym and work all day, then how likely are you to make the workouts? Over my years in this sport I know that training has to be practical and suited to our lifestyles. Distance coaching can cover anything from, equalisation, pool, and gym training. We can work on a long term basis and have you peaking in time for a competition or an upcoming training trip.
